Join the seaweed and kelp course at Kaperuka :)

We are pleased to present Anne-Lise and Bjørn from Ting med Tang in Engelsviken who will come and tell you about how to collect seaweed and kelp for your own food. How to collect it correctly, which species are used for what, taste, nutritional content and much more.
Anne- and Bjørn are committed to sharing expertise at all levels so that seaweed and kelp can become as natural a part of the Norwegian diet as vegetables, fruit and berries are today. The fact that seaweed and kelp are an underutilized resource with many good properties, and a new growing industry in Norway, is a driving force for us. Thursday:
Meet them at the stand in the market square and get to know different seaweed and kelp species, did you know that there are around 450 seaweed and kelp species along the Norwegian coast? They showcase different species that grow in our area.
They bring seaweed and kelp to the fish soup competition that the participants can use as raw materials. They will also be on the judging panel for Captain Kaper's fish soup competition.
Friday: Activity about seaweed and kelp for children and families in the Backyard Tent. 1100-1145 price NOK 200,- per participant NOK 400,- per family.

The mini-course starts with theory about seaweed and kelp as a food ingredient, harvesting, cultivation and sustainability, and much more. In this course you will get close contact with seaweed and kelp, both by tasting and touching the different species that they bring with them. Look at this "mysterious" and perhaps a little disgusting thing on the shore with new eyes and gain knowledge about how to collect it yourself.
Saturday: Seaweed safari on Øshassel. At 1100 -1500 price NOK. NOK 1,200 per participant as well includes meal 🙂 Meeting point at Lista Longhouse in Østhasselstrand.
